By rail, Thirsk sits on the East Coast Main Line — TransPennine Express and Grand Central both call, with Manchester Airport reachable by a direct train. By road, the A19 bypasses the town to the east, with the A61 running through the Market Place itself. Full detail is on the Railway Station page.
Getting around once you're here
- The town centre is compact and walkable — most attractions, shops and places to eat are within a few minutes of the Market Place.

- Thirsk Racecourse — 16 flat-racing fixtures a year, April to September.
- Sutton Bank and the Kilburn White Horse — a short taxi ride out, the standout view in the area.
